Ovaylo ("we", "us", "our") helps groups plan trips together — itineraries, dates, packing lists, shared expenses, documents, photos, and chat. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, and profile photo, whether you sign up directly or via Google, Microsoft, Facebook, or Apple.
- Trip content you create or upload: itineraries, dates, packing lists, notes, group tasks, polls, chat messages, and travel documents.
- Photos and memories you or trip members upload to a shared trip album, including comments and reactions on them.
- Expense and payment plan information: amounts, who paid, and settlements between trip members. Payments processed on the web are handled by Stripe — we do not store your full card details.
- Emergency contact details you optionally add to a trip for safety purposes.
- AI assistant interactions: messages you send to Ovaylo's AI travel concierge, itinerary planner, or packing advisor, used to generate responses and suggestions.
- Usage information such as device type and app interactions, used to keep the service reliable and secure.
How we use your information
- To provide core features — trip planning, group chat, expense splitting, shared photos, and documents.
- To share the trip content you create with the other members of that trip. Content within a trip is visible to that trip's members, not the public.
- To generate AI-powered suggestions (itineraries, packing lists, concierge answers) using the details you provide about a trip.
- To process payments and payment plans for trips, via Stripe.
- To communicate with you about your account, trips you're part of, and service updates.
- To maintain the security and integrity of the service.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With other members of a trip you join, for the content you contribute to that trip.
- With service providers who help us run Ovaylo, such as our hosting and database provider (Base44), payment processor (Stripe), and AI providers used to power assistant features — bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile information at any time from Profile settings.
- You can leave a trip to stop sharing new content with that trip's members.
- You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data from Profile → Delete Account. This action is irreversible.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where retention is required for legal or security reasons.
Children's privacy
Ovaylo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
